Facebook Named Live Stream Partner for 'The Oscars: All Access'

The ABC-produced show will feature red-carpet highlights, backstage footage and live look-ins on the awards telecast.
ABC's second-screen Oscars experience is heading to Facebook for the second year in a row.

The broadcaster has inked a deal with Facebook to Live Stream The Oscars: All Access. The show, which will offer red-carpet highlights, backstage footage and live look-ins at the awards telecast, will be available via the Academy's show page on Facebook Watch and the ABC Facebook page, in addition to its usual home at Oscar.com and ABCNews.com.
ABC produces the All Access show as a companion to its live telecast of the Academy Awards. To watch the honors being handed out, viewers will still need to tune into ABC via a cable subscription or a membership to an internet-enabled live TV provider like DirecTV Now or YouTube TV.
This is the second year that Facebook and ABC have teamed to distribute All Access, expanding on a multiyear relationship between the social network and the broadcaster. Last year's All Access show won an Emmy for creative achievement in the interactive media with an unscripted program category.
Sofia Carson (Descendants) and Ben Lyons (The Warmup) are returning to All Access as hosts. They will be stationed on the red carpet and backstage during the kudocast. Joining them once again will be Good Morning America contributor Chris Connelly, who will greet the stars as they step onto the red carpet, and ESPN commentator Adnan Virk, who will provide commentary during the backstage show. Newcomer Wesam Keesh (For the People) will contribute from the bleachers that run along the red carpet.

All Access will feature footage from over 20 cameras placed along the red carpet, backstage and in the audience at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Viewers who watch the broadcast via Facebook will have the opportunity to receive a digital signature from one of their favorite stars.
The Academy also will encourage viewers on Facebook to connect with one another via its official Facebook group, Oscars Movie Club. And it will share Oscars Insider content on its Facebook Watch show page throughout the week ahead of the awards ceremony.
On Facebook-owned Instagram, the Academy will share exclusive content from Oscar night. Further, Tom Holland (Avengers: Infinity War) will be taking over the Stories for the @instagram account.
The Oscars: All Access will begin streaming live at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT on Sunday. The Oscars, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will be broadcast live on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
